The following HomeBuy options are available:
My Choice HomeBuy
A new scheme available from Keyhomes East which will help a wider range of people buy a home of their choice on the open market.
This can provide a contribution of up to 50% towards your purchase; you are also free to choose a mortgage lender in order to find the best deal possible for you.
To apply download Orbit First Step’s application who will assess your eligibility and forward your form onto Keyhomes East.
Ownhome
Ownhome is a new HomeBuy product available for use on the Open Market. It is the first HomeBuy product to be marketed directly to customers, as well as through the HomeBuy agents.
New Build HomeBuy (formerly Shared Ownership)
New Build HomeBuy enables you to take your first step into home ownership by typically buying a 50% share of a property provided by a registered social landlord, through either a mortgage or savings.
A monthly rent is payable to the registered social landlord for the remaining share of the property. As your circumstances or finances change you can then buy further shares until you own the whole property.
First Time Buyers Initiative Scheme - (FTBi Scheme)
The FTBi scheme enables first-time buyers who cannot afford to buy a new home, to purchase a new property with an affordable mortgage and with government assistance. For the first three years of the FTBi home ownership there is nothing to pay on the amount that the government contributed. After three years, buyers will pay a fee to the government of 1% per annum on the amount the government funded.
Resales
From time to time, properties originally sold under New Build HomeBuy become available for resale. If you are registered with us we will send you details of Resale properties that match your housing needs.
Social HomeBuy
Social HomeBuy is where public sector tenants buy their council or housing association home on a part buy part rent basis receiving a discount on the initial purchase price.
Eligibility criteria are set on a local level by your landlord. It is not a statutory scheme and not all landlords will currently be offering this assistance.
To find out if your landlord is offering Social HomeBuy and what the eligibility criteria are, please call your Housing Officer who should be able to advise you.
